This is the FD, Discmanias most popular fairway driver - Reinvented.
The FD was Discmanias first Fairway Driver and has always been a true best seller in her line up. It’s certainly one of the most iconic Discmania molds out there. If you’re looking to get your hands on your first Discmania disc, this is a great place to start.
Famous for its extremely straight flight path combined with high glide and controllability, the FD has a place in everyone’s bag. New players will fall in love with the FD’s straight-to-stable flight path and dependability off the tee. For players with some experience, the FD offers point-and-shoot accuracy that connects you with your target at ease.
The FD is a great foundation to build your bag around, as its versatility ensures it’s the one disc you’ll reach for over and over again in various situations. Don’t let the speed rating fool you, the FD glides surprisingly far!
If you are having trouble hitting the fairway with max speed drivers, take a step back, let the glide take you there, and the straight flight will place you in the middle of the fairway. The C-line version tends to settle on the more overstable end of the FD spectrum, meaning it can handle a lot of power while maintaining a straight flight path.
Discmania, along with Latitude 64° and Kastaplast, is probably one of the best known European disc golf manufacturers based in Finland. Discmania was founded in 2006 and launched its first disc, the MD1, which was manufactured by Innova Champion Discs.
In 2019, the existing line of disc golf discs, henceforth called "Originals", was joined by two other product lines that expanded Discmania's product line. So Discmania had Latitude 64° produce the "Evolution" product line and Yikun Discs produce the "Active" product line.
Both product lines now offer an almost complete range of discs, with the "Active" series being a low-cost option for beginners due to its production in China.
In 2021, the last but the biggest change in Discmania's product range took place. Due to the increased demand for disc golf discs as a result of the boom in the sport during the pandemic and the problem that Innova could hardly keep up with the production of the "Originals" series, Discmania decided to take over the production of the "Originals" series for the first time. In 2021 Discmania opened its own production facility in Sweden, where the "Originals" series was produced from then on. From this point on, the company started to re-release their own bestsellers, starting with discs like the P2 and the MD3. To this day, Discmania still re-releases the old favourites from the Originals series, but also expands the range, as with the forthcoming FD1. Besides the stock releases, Discmania is also known for the signature releases of its pro players like Eagle McMahon or Kyle Klein, who often recombine plastic types with existing moulds.
C-Line plastic — a new plastic designed to exceed the expectations of even Discmanias most demanding customers. This isn’t the C-Line of the past, it isn’t Discmanias Neo blend from the Evolution line, or whatever other premium plastic there is. This is Discmanias new Plastic and there is nothing else like it. The end result is a stunning, Italian-made blend that produces unmatched grip, flight performance, and great durability.
Note: In the Summer 2021, the MD3 production was moved into Discmanias own production facility in Sweden. All MD3s made before this have a tad bit more low-speed fade.
