Article Description

The MVP Disc Sports Octane in Fission® plastic combines the Octane’s high-speed and distance potential with lightweight Fission® technology. Its ultralight core allows weights down to 155 g. Compared with Octanes in other plastics, this version has slightly more turn and may offer especially impressive distance.

The Octane belongs to the same general stability lineage as the Switch, Amp, Inertia, and Wave. Its slow-turning flight profile holds a long, straight line before finishing with fade. Compared with the Wave and its narrower profile, the Octane is designed to be less understable.

Players with average power can expect straight flights with a touch of shallow turn. Power throwers can hyzerflip the disc for maximum distance and tailwind lines. Its power-responsive flight allows the Octane to be shaped for different lines and situations by adjusting power and release angles.

The Octane requires significant throwing speed and arm speed. When fully powered, its pronounced dome provides excellent glide and the potential to cover massive distances. Depending on their throwing power, average-power players may also find it suitable as a distance driver with a more stable flight.

Settings Explanation

This visualization allows you to simulate the disc's flight path based on different throw parameters:

  • Throw Type: RHBH (Right-Hand Backhand) or LHFH (Left-Hand Forehand) and vice versa. Determines the direction of turn and fade.
  • Power: Throw speed from 60% to 120%. At correct speed (green), the disc flies according to the values.
  • Condition: Simulates the disc's condition level. 1/10 = heavily worn (more turn), 10/10 = new (more stable, less turn).
  • Spread: Displays multiple flight paths with different speeds as a colored fan.
  • Paths: Choose between all paths or only the path for the selected power setting.

Note: This simulation is based on the manufacturer's specified flight ratings (Speed, Glide, Turn, Fade). Actual flight characteristics may vary from disc to disc within the same mold and are highly dependent on individual throwing style. This visualization serves as a general guideline.
